Walnut Football closed out the 2017 season at Chino High School Friday night. The Mustangs took a 1st quarter lead when Jared Arellano hit Andres Sais for a 20-yard TD pass. Chino had a big 2nd quarter and went into halftime with a 22-6 lead. The Mustang Stampede defense stiffened in the 2nd half and got a 54-yard interception return for a TD from Christian Elias in the 3rd quarter. Walnut held on to the ball a large part of the 4th quarter but couldn’t sustain a drive until Andres Sais grabbed a pass from Enzo Angeles and ran 65-yards for another touchdown. With Walnut now only down by 3 points with less than three minutes left, Chino scored a final time to make the score 29-19. Walnut got the ball back and started driving down the field but time ran out. Andres Sais finished the game with 9 catches for 184 yards, both marks put Sais in the Mustang record books, third for most catches in a game and first for receiving yards in a single game. On defense, Sais also caused two fumbles and recovered one.
