Mustang Football shock off last week’s opening loss and a rough first quarter tonight to overwhelm the visiting Gladstone Gladiators 38-8 at Ken Gunn Stadium. The Gladiators scored first when a bad snap led to a safety in Walnut’s own end zone for a 2-0 led that Gladstone took into the second quarter. That’s when Walnut finally woke up starting with Donavan Wallace returning a punt 75 yards for a TD and then a few minutes later Wallace made a beautiful one handed catch in the end zone on a 4th and long play to give Walnut a 14-2 lead that it would never relinquish. Donathan Maldonado would throw his second TD pass to Nate Wong to finish the second quarter. Wong would go on to score another TD in the 4th quarter on a 38 yard run and sophomore Bradley Adams would finish off the scoring with a 10 yard run. Walnut will host Rowland next Friday, who come in with a record of 1-1.
